Near Variant Routing

Sometimes merchants have a complex list of options where many of the option combinations (variants) have no product sku tied to them. This could cause a user experience issue because it was possible you couldn’t get to every variant through the options as some paths were disabled. Near variant routing option make it so if there isn’t an exact match to the variant combination you choose in the picker we will still redirect you to the closest valid variant.

This feature also makes it possible to visit out-of-stock variants if you have stock tracking enabled. To test this feature out and have your picker behave more like the default shopify variants picker. Go to the picker styling - setting section and enable the option for “Redirect users when they click disabled values”.
